Vo Rogue Plate Preview
The Vo Rogue Plate is a Group 3 thoroughbred horse race organised by the Brisbane Racing Club. The race has a distance of 1400m, but this year, it will have a distance of 1350m. The race is reserved for three-year-old horses at set weights. This year, the race is scheduled to take place on 31st December at the Doomben Racecourse in Brisbane, Queensland.
The Vo Rogue Plate was held for the first time in 2006 and was named after Vo Rogue, a renowned sprinter from the Queensland Hall of Fame. The race was introduced as a listed race, and in 2008, it was upgraded to Group 3.
Vo Rogue Plate Betting Tips
The Vo Rogue Plate Day is also called the Magic Millions Qualifier Day. It is because multiple other races are held on the day of the race, including The Buffering, a $200,000 race, the winner of which gets a ballot exemption into the Magic Millions Race held at the Gold Coast in January.
A sound betting tip for the Vo Rogue Plate is to consider the lead-up form of the nominees in the summer races, gallopers with good performances at Brisbane and sprinters with past win records in the same group category.
The race usually features many newcomers with experience in listed races who have yet to prove their performance at a Group race. Similar distance-listed races in the prior weeks can hence be a good indication.
Another factor to consider is the set weight advantage. Usually, these conditions favour horses with better previous performance that can cope with the added weight. Moreover, sticking with the favourites has served the punters well in the past. The last favourite to salute for the favourites was Alligator Blood, who won in 2019 with odds of $1.35. Hence, it is a good idea to watch out for favourites with a strong recent record.
