Hanshin Jump Stakes preview
Steeplechase racing in Japan began in 1908 and was introduced by the Hokkaido Racing Club at Sapporo.
Steeplechase racing at Hanshin was introduced in 1924. Presently, steeplechase races constitute ten of the total graded races organised by the Japan Racing Association, with the National Grand Jump as the most significant racing event. Owing to the race’s popularity at the international level, steeplechase racing has also gained traction locally.
The Hanshin Jump Stakes is a Grade 3 steeplechase race reserved for horses aged three and above. Till 2019, the race was taking place at the Hanshin Racecourse. However, since 2020, the race has been taking place at Chukyo Racecourse. In 2021, Turbo won the race.
Betting on the favourites has served the punters well in the past, particularly from 2014 to 2018, when the favourites saluted for the punters. However in the past three years, the favourites have only managed to land in third or fourth place.
This looks quite a tough race to predict with no obvious trends.
