Korea Sprint Preview

The Korea Sprint is a Group 3 race reserved for thoroughbreds ages three and up. The race runs over a distance of 1,200m and takes place on the Seoul Racecourse. The race is returning to the Seoul race calendar after a break of two years, as the last Korea Sprint took place in 2019.

This year will be the fifth edition of the Korea Sprint and will take place on 4th September at the Seoul Racecourse. The prize money for the race is KRW 1 Billion, while the winner gets KRW 550,000,000 from the purse.

Japanese horses like the Korea Cup have performed well at the Korea Sprint. This year Raptus is in the line for the sprint challenge. The runner is a prominent contender on dirt tracks and has won nine out of twenty-one runs so far. Runners from Hong Kong with good experience at the Sha Tin Racecourse have consistently outperformed expectations in races at Seoul.

This year the Korean lineup for the race is also quite strong. The prominent contenders include Morfhis, a multiple group winner, Eoma Eoma, Black Musk, a quickly rising star, and Blue Chipper from Busan, who won the Korea Sprint in 2019 and finished third in the Santa Anita’s Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
