Can You Withdraw A Free Bet?

Can you withdraw a free bet is a question we often get asked, and the answer is – NO! If you have a £10 free bet, you can’t withdraw the £10 in cash; you must place a bet with your free bet. If your free bet wins, you also won’t be able to withdraw the free bet stake, but you can withdraw any winnings from your free bet.

For example, let’s say that you open a new account with a betting site that is offering new players a £10 free bet for signing up. You decide to place your free bet on a horse at 5/1 and it wins. If this was a normal £10 bet, you would get a return of £60 (£50 winnings + your £10 stake). But as it’s a free bet, you will only receive your £50 winnings and not your stake.

Are Free Bets Worth Claiming?

Even though you can’t withdraw a free bet, you should still take advantage of them whenever you get the chance. That’s not to say that you should immediately sign up to every betting site that is offering free bets. But claiming them and using them when you want to place a normal bet is a bit of a no-brainer in our opinion.

For example, if the best odds for one of your selections are available at a betting site that you’re not already a member of, it’s a great idea to open an account and place your bet with them. Not only will you then get the best odds, but you’ll also benefit from being given a free bet.

The best way to use this free bet is to bet it on a selection that you would have backed with real money, even if you didn’t have the free bet. Don’t just waste your free bet on the next race, just because it’s free.

However, you will need to check the terms and conditions of the free bet, as time limits and odds restrictions may apply.

Where Can I Get Free Bets?

Many betting sites offer free bets (some call them bet credits) as an incentive to open an account with them, and you can see most of these offers on any good odds comparison site.

Some betting sites prefer to offer bonuses, but these are not always free bets. Free bets only need to be wagered once, but check the t&Cs of bonuses as you may have to wager them more than once before you can withdraw any winnings.

Some bookmakers also offer risk-free bets, which work slightly differently. For example, if your first £10 bet loses, you’ll get another £10 bet. But if your first bet wins, you won’t get the additional bet.

Popular betting sites where you can claim free bets when you sign up include Bet365, Sky Bet, Betfair, William Hill, 888, BetVictor, Unibet, and Betfred. The offers at these betting sites vary and may also be subject to change.

Some of these betting sites also reward the loyalty of their existing members with free bets, such as Bet365, Sky Bet, and the Betfair Exchange. These are normally awarded after you’ve placed a predetermined number of bets or have staked a certain amount of money.

What Sports Can I Bet On With Free Bets?

The types of sports you can use your free bets on may vary at different betting sites, but you can normally bet on a wide range of sports such as horse racing, football, cricket, basketball, ice hockey, American football, and tennis.

Simply check which sports each betting site allows you to bet on and check any odds restrictions they may have in place. For example, some betting sites will only let your place your free bets on selections at odds of evens (2.00) or bigger, while the odds restriction of other betting sites can be as low as 1/5 (1.20).

How Do I Pick Selections For My Free Bets?

People pick their selections for free bets in a variety of ways. You could bet on your favourite sports team or bet on a horse with a name you like but, of course, you’re putting your fortune squarely in the hands of lady luck.

Many people that are new to betting tend to follow tips from pundits on popular betting sites or TV shows, but you need to take into consideration that many of these are sponsored by big-time bookmakers that are trying to make money from your bets.

Lots of experienced bettors that enjoy trying to work out form lines and statistics like to pick their own tips, and some are quite successful. But it’s hard to dedicate enough time to studying the form if you also work full-time or even part-time. That makes it hard to make a profit from gambling.

That’s why more and more punters are seeking the advice of professional sports tipsters, ones that make it their life’s work to find the type of value bets that help them make a long-term profit from gambling.

Here at Betting Gods, we offer advice from an excellent mix of well-established tipsters and the hottest new tipping talent. Our tipsters provide tips for a vast range of sports.
